Tullow to commence drilling onshore Kenyan basin

 UK-based oil and gas exploration firm Tullow has announced that it will start drilling for oil in the North Turkana Basin, located onshore Kenya

TulloowTullow has also started to work on a series of basin opening wildcat wells in Kenya. 
The company said that the result from the basin-testing well will be made public early 2015.
In addition to the drilling activities, the firm expects to drill five more exploration wells across its acreage in Kenya and neighbouring countries of Uganda and Ethiopia.
A top company executive said, “During 2014, Tullow has continued with significant exploration and appraisal activity in Kenya. For instance, the South Lokichar Basin was extended to the north and the south of the country. The company also discovered Etom-1 well in Block 13T and Ekosowan-1 in Block 10BB in South Lokichar basin.”
A number of successful appraisal wells and flow tests have also been carried out across the basin, which have a resource base close to 600mn barrels, added the company executive.
